NEPL Hits 355,000 bpd, Records Highest Output Since 198

NNPC E&P Limited (NEPL), the upstream subsidiary of NNPC Limited, has recorded its highest daily crude oil production in more than three decades, reaching 355,000 barrels per day on December 1, 2025.

The output marks a major milestone for Nigeria’s upstream sector, signalling renewed operational stability and rising national production capacity. Data from the company shows that average daily output climbed from 203,000 bpd in 2023 to 312,000 bpd in 2025, representing a 52 percent increase.

Energy analysts say the surge reflects NEPL’s ongoing operational reforms focused on efficiency, asset optimization, and disciplined field development. The performance also indicates growing momentum toward Nigeria’s broader national production targets.

Group CEO of NNPC Limited, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, described the achievement as proof that Nigeria’s energy revival “is already happening.” He said surpassing previous benchmarks demonstrates stronger systems, improved processes, and enhanced leadership within the company.

Ojulari added that the milestone boosts investor confidence and reaffirms Nigeria’s place as a reliable energy supplier in the global market.

Executive Vice President, Upstream, Udy Ntia, noted that NEPL’s progress underscores the importance of safe and responsible operations. He said sustainable growth requires strong safety practices, environmental protection, and positive community engagement—not shortcuts.

Managing Director of NEPL, Nicolas Foucart, linked the record output to broader transformation efforts across NNPC Limited. He highlighted improved leadership direction, stronger partnerships, and a more efficient workforce as key drivers of the company’s performance.

Foucart added that the achievement carries wider national implications, including increased revenue, improved energy security, and a more stable economic outlook.

NEPL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NNPC Limited responsible for exploring and producing Nigeria’s oil and gas resources.
