Abuja Gets a New Recreational Hub as FCTA Signs Development Agreements

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken a bold step in transforming Abuja into a world-class city, signing Development Agreements with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited to create a major recreational hub in the heart of Nigeria’s capital.

FCT Minister Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike described Abuja as a fast-growing metropolis with enormous potential for tourism and recreation. He emphasized that land speculators slowing down development will no longer be tolerated, warning that all approved land allocations must be developed within six months or face revocation.

The project promises significant socioeconomic benefits. Mr. Pankaj Khandelwal, representing Suburban Broadband Limited, called the agreement a landmark for their organization, highlighting the potential for job creation and investment growth in the FCT.

Mr. Bamisile Olukayode of Akida Hills Limited praised the Minister for his developmental drive and described the upcoming project at Jabi Lake as “exciting,” promising it will rival global attractions such as Times Square in New York and the Dubai Fountain Water Show. He assured that the hub will position Abuja on the world stage as a premier destination city, with completion expected before the end of the year.

The development reflects Abuja’s ambition to compete with top international cities in entertainment, tourism, and recreation, signaling Nigeria’s growing footprint in the global leisure and urban development landscape.
