Every year on September 7th, the runway transforms into a platform for unity, creativity, and compassion as the Africa Fashion for Peace (AFFP) charity runway takes center stage. Now in its 8th edition, the event—founded and produced by Hopez Tude Rizons Ltd.—continues to weave together the threads of fashion, art, and music to promote peace across Africa.
At the heart of this inspiring movement is Hopez Chioma, an international supermodel, brand ambassador, and humanitarian, whose life was forever changed by tragedy. In June 2014, Hopez survived the Emab Plaza bomb explosion in Abuja, Nigeria—an attack that claimed 21 lives and left many others injured. Rather than succumb to fear, she turned her pain into purpose, using fashion as a medium to advocate for peace and support victims of conflict across the continent.
This year’s edition, was a celebration of resilience and renewal. The runway came alive with colorful designs, powerful spoken word performances, and emotional storytelling through style. Models—both seasoned and emerging—graced the stage, reflecting Africa’s diverse beauty and creativity.
Among the participants was Mrs. Prisca, who walked the runway alongside her children—a gesture that beautifully captured the event’s spirit of family, unity, and compassion. “Participating with my children was a truly heartwarming and memorable experience,” she shared. “It was more than fashion; it was a call to love, give, and stand together for peace.”
Through Africa Fashion for Peace, Hopez and her team have turned the runway into a beacon of hope, raising funds for underprivileged children and empowering communities to see fashion not only as an art form but as a vehicle for change.
As Africa continues to face challenges of conflict and division, events like AFFP remind the world that peace too can be worn—boldly, beautifully, and purposefully.
